First Presbyterian Church Hartsville

At The First Presbyterian Church in Hartsville, South Carolina we worked to integrated natural play elements while preserving ample open play space. We designed a natural playside hill with an embankment slide and hop rocks as the focal point element at the center of the playground. To keep all of the play elements shaded and cool during the summer, we installed a large 4 post shade over this main play space.

The remaining areas of the playground were sprinkled with accessory play elements such as chalk boards, musical instruments, and crawl logs. All of the fenced area was surfaced with artificial turf, which is ideal for large areas of open play. This surface provides a clean play area with free drainage that reduces playground maintenance!
